It’s time for another instalment of our Top 100 Wedding Songs series, and this week the countdown continues with numbers 89 – 79!

Looking through our choices from last week we’re happy with the mix of genres and styles, and this week will continue as we pick out some of the top tunes for every aspect of the wedding – from walking down the aisle to the last big number at the reception.

89. The Dixie Cups – Chapel of Love

All I can think of when I hear this one is the classic wedding movie Father of The Bride. This is one for the bride to listen to when it’s time for hair and make-up the morning of the Big Day – be warned though, this may get the tears flowing prematurely!

88. Hall & Oates – You Make My Dreams Come True

An 80s tune brought back from obscurity recently by the romance flick 500 Days of Summer, this has surely got to be a wedding staple now…no?!

87. Corinne Bailey Rae – Like a Star

A perfect choice for a first dance, Corinne Bailey Rae’s ‘Like a Star’ is a pretty little number which creates the ideal romantic mood for the occasion.

86. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – Home

This gorgeous tune was all over the radio last year. It’s a fantastic track and perfect for a wedding with cute lyrics like, ‘Holy moly me oh my! / You’re the apple of my eye, / Girl I never loved one like you.’
Awww.

85. Frank Sinatra – The Way You Look Tonight

Winding back the years with a bit of Sinatra, you’ve just got to love this swing number. It’s a great one to dance to and it has universal appeal – sounds perfect for a wedding to me.

84. Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl

Speaking of universal appeal – there’s no-one who can keep their feet from tapping when this is playing! And if the Bride is blue-eyed, well, who cares? This one deserves a play anyway.

83. Stevie Wonder – For Once in My Life

Now I’m the first to admit I have something of an addiction to soul music, but I defy anyone not to love this one. A classic from Mr. Stevie Wonder himself with helplessly romantic lyrics and a harmonica solo – what more could you ask for?

82. The Troggs – With a Girl Like You

You might not have thought of this one, but it’s a great tune that combines romantic lyrics and an irresistible 60’s rock beat. I love it.

81. The Mamas & The Papas – Do You Wanna Dance?

‘Do You Wanna Dance’ was originally released by Cliff Richard & The Shadows, but there’s something about the harmonies in this one by hippy outfit The Mamas & The Papas that I really like. This would be a lovely alternative choice for a first dance.

80. Taste of Honey – Boogie Oogie Oogie

I request this at every wedding I go to! Irresistible disco beat, great lyrics – I love this track!

Well that’s the end of another instalment of our Top 100 Wedding Songs! Have we still not included your favourite? Get in touch with us through Twitter or Facebook and let us know – you never know, we might include it next time!
