Unbelievably we are now in the top thirty of our countdown of the Top 100 Wedding Songs! Another great mix of classics from past and present; we’re just as excited about this instalment as our others but if we haven’t included your favourite in our list yet let us know!
29. Depeche Mode – Just Can’t Get Enough
This fun and romantic dance track from Depeche Mode is an absolute classic that will get everyone up on the floor. We can’t think of a better way to kick things off this week than with
Just Can’t Get Enough!
28. Plain White T’s – Hey There Delilah
First released in 2006 (has it really been that long?), this one is a firm favourite for weddings. We think this is a great choice to walk down the aisle to if classical music isn’t your thing.
27. Amy Winehouse – There is no Greater Love
Written in 1936, this jazz classic has been covered countless times and most recently by Amy Winehouse on her 2003 album Frank. This is a real beaut, but do listen to the versions by
Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and
Nat King Cole too.
26. Kings of Leon – Use Somebody
Since its 2008 release I can’t think there’s been a wedding reception in the world that hasn’t had this one played at it. Appropriately soulful but not shaking its contemporary rock feel, it ticks all the boxes.
25. Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough
I think we’ll file this one under ‘They Don’t Make Them Like They Used To’. Soulful, upbeat, undeniably romantic – this is sure to have everyone dancing.
24. Luther Vandross – Never Too Much
Speaking of having everyone dancing – I defy anyone to resist getting up on the dancefloor to Luther Vandross.
23. The Carpenters – We’ve Only Just Begun
Rolling back the years with this classic ballad from The Carpenters, this is a slow dance that will definitely bring back the memories for the older generations.
22. Marvin Gaye & Kim Weston – It Takes Two
I know, I know – Marvin Gaye twice in one list! This is another classic duet from a master of soul, and it’s something that will have all of the couples at your reception up and dancing.
21. Mumford & Sons – Lover of The Light
Mumford & Sons seem to get it right every time, don’t they? This upbeat folky number from their number one album is a very modern choice, but it is one that everyone will enjoy.
20. The Turtles – Happy Together
This infectious little number went straight to number one when it was released back in 1967, and it endures as a fantastic romantic song. “I can’t see me lovin’ nobody but you for all my life…” – doesn’t get much more appropriate for a wedding than that!
We have just two more instalments of our countdown left! We are still available on Twitter and Facebook and we would love to hear your suggestions for your favourite wedding songs!
