We’ve all been there – the wedding ceremony was beautiful, the meal was lovely, and now the DJ is playing some great songs and everyone is having a great time. But then… one song stops and another begins. You hear the first few notes: “Is that?” “No, it can’t be”. “It is, it’s…” “How inappropriate!”

It doesn’t happen at every wedding but we’ve all been at one where a completely inappropriate song has come and everyone has stopped. It’s a bit awkward at the time, but something we can all laugh about afterwards. For that reason, we thought we’d put together our top 20 inappropriate wedding songs.

Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division

From the title alone it’s clear that Joy Division’s classic isn’t a great choice for weddings!

Gold Digger – Kanye West

It might not be the first choice on the list anyway, but accusing someone of being a gold digger isn’t the best way to start a marriage!

It Wasn't Me – Shaggy

Although one of Shaggy’s biggest hits, playing it at a wedding probably won’t get the party started.

Every Day I Love You Less & Less – Kaiser Chiefs

The chances are that if you’re getting married, this isn’t something you’ll want to be saying.

Who Let The Dogs Out? – Baha Men

You’ve just committed yourself to one person for the rest of your life – is this how you want it to begin?

Run For Your Life – The Beatles

It’s too late for that now!

Caught Out There – Kelis

Featuring the famous line “I hate you so much right now” – hopefully that isn’t the case.

Another One Bites The Dust – Queen

Hopefully this isn’t the case, only a few hours after your wedding.

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For – U2

By this point, we really hope you have!

That Don’t Impress Me Much – Shania Twain

This really isn’t the message that you want to be giving to your new spouse.

Don’t You Want Me – The Human League

If you’re asking this question at this stage, you’re a little too late.

Bad Romance – Lady Gaga

If you were part of a bad romance, it’s likely that a wedding wouldn’t be happening in the first place.

Shut Up & Let Me Go – The Ting Tings

For many couples this might be relevant a few years down the line, but not on your wedding day.

Bump N Grind – R Kelly

Now we don’t have anything against this song, but when your parents are present…

Hot In Herre – Nelly

It might be hot in there, but please, don’t take off all your clothes!

Every Breath You Take – The Police

Controlling, sinister, a bit weird – the character in this song isn’t one you want at your wedding.

D-I-V-O-R-C-E – Dolly Parton

We don’t really need to say any more do we?

Candy Shop – 50 Cent

We don’t really want to go into it, but if you’re familiar with the song you’ll know why!

Highway To Hell – AC/DC

We hope not many people approach their wedding with this attitude!

I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

Although a popular song, it’s lyrics describe a relationship break-up.
